VoIP Phone System - Do You Want These 5 Advantages For Your Business? by Ed Mass

New technologies like IP Telephony don't just replace previous ones but allow much greater functionality, increased productivity, enhanced customer care and lower costs than prior technologies. Here are just a number of ideas for one to ponder.

Your IP Telephone System supplies the following advantages:

* Seamless extension dialing between all of your locations on your private network, or perhaps over the population Internet, is comparatively easy and much less costly than traditional means. All your offices may be "tied together" to act as one large office wherever in the world they may be located. This also supplies the advantage of eliminating cross country charges relating to the locations.

* IP Telephony creates lower cost and greater functionality advantages from carrier services. With IP Telephony it is possible to connect your entire offices together on your own own private network. Or you'll be able to use the "quasi-private" network of your carrier.

This means you use one company to provide the voice trunks at each and every office. Your voice traffic between offices stays around the private network with the carrier. Your voice traffic never needs to travel through the general public internet.

If done efficiently you have the advantage of carrying your voice traffic over the same network that carries crucial computer data traffic between offices but through the service provider you have Quality of Service to offer voice priority over data. This will also give you a cheaper than the traditional means of your totally private network connecting your offices.

* Easily and economically connecting work from home workers. Your home-based worker may be easily associated with your office phone system which has a high speed connection such as DSL or cable Internet. Your worker needs a phone from your workplace and connects it compared to that Internet connection. Or your worker runs on the "soft phone" that is software on his or her computer in your house that functions like a telephone.

That physical phone or soft phone, located anywhere on earth, is currently a phone on the office phone system with all the individual settings that worker has on their own phone on the job. Someone calls your working environment and the call automatically rings the telephone at your worker's home. The caller doesn't know the location where the person they're calling is situated. This arrangement may even work for a tiny one, two, or three person branch office.

* Easily and economically connecting traveling workers. Imagine you're traveling and staying in a hotel using a high speed Internet connection. You have a "soft phone" in your laptop computer. You can use a headset on your own laptop or a handset that plugs into a USB port on your own computer. The handset acts just as the handset on your own phone at the office. You can now receive and earn calls through your soft phone the same as you're at your office. Callers will ring by way of your soft phone.

You may be located anywhere in the world and the person you call or calls you will not know what your location is. If you're going to be away with an extended stretch of time, you may also want to have a regular office phone as well as set it up on the Internet connection. This arrangement employs IP Telephony for work combined with VOIP using the Internet. IP Telephony makes all this easily possible at a less expensive than traditional systems.

Home based and traveling workers can also go into your working environment, in reality any of your working environment locations, and merely "join" to your phone system much like they log in for your computer system. Once logged in all of the their phone settings are automatically provided to the phone in which they log in. This just wasn't easy or possible to do economically ahead of IP Telephony.

* Software upgrades less difficult easier and could be performed by you instead of paying of the telephone equipment vendor to complete them.

There are many more benefits to IP Telephony. This brief overview needs to be enough to peak your interest to continue your investigation. You don't need to make a total swap from the current phone system. It is possible to gradually introduce an IP Telephone System into your organization and interface it to legacy systems.
